Pat and Bob Hunt moved to nearby Geneva, Illinois, in 1976 and “needed an outdoor space,” they say. “We had heard about the Arboretum. Then our friends took us to the Fall Festival, and that was when we joined. When you join, the Arboretum becomes part of you. It is a sanctuary.”

In addition to their annual support, Pat and Bob have also included a bequest to the Arboretum in their will. “We want to be a part of a growing number of folks who desire to give to the Arboretum,” they say. “We want to inspire others to help support the long-term success of the Arboretum because we want it to be here forever.”

The Hunts say their passion for the Arboretum’s mission inspired them to make their gift. “Over the years, spending time here has opened our eyes to the potential of what the Arboretum can do to save trees,” they say. “The more we’ve gotten to know the projects and programs, the more we see the impact the Arboretum is having worldwide. What we contribute supports the future potential of this organization. At the end of our lives, we want to say we contributed to something larger.”

Pat and Bob encourage others to consider leaving a legacy gift to support the Arboretum’s future. “If you have ever walked the paths of The Morton Arboretum, you know the feeling, and the experience is priceless,” they conclude. “Any gift can make an impact. Whatever you can give will make a difference. This is a mission that everyone should want to support.”
